भारत के रेलवे इतिहास में एक नया अध्याय जुड़ गया है। उत्तराखंड में देवप्रयाग और जनासु के बीच 14.57 किलोमीटर लंबी रेल सुरंग का निर्माण कार्य तय समय से सवा साल पहले पूरा कर लिया गया है। यह सुरंग देश की अब तक की सबसे लंबी रेल सुरंग बन गई है और इसे रेलवे इंजीनियरिंग की एक बड़ी उपलब्धि माना जा रहा है।
रेलवे अधिकारियों ने बताया कि इस परियोजना का काम बेहद कठिन भौगोलिक परिस्थितियों में हुआ। बावजूद इसके, इंजीनियरों और श्रमिकों की कड़ी मेहनत और आधुनिक तकनीक के इस्तेमाल से यह काम समय से पहले पूरा हो पाया। सुरंग पूरी होने से न केवल रेल मार्ग छोटा होगा, बल्कि यात्रियों को तेज, सुरक्षित और सुगम यात्रा का लाभ मिलेगा।
यह सुरंग ऋषिकेश-कर्णप्रयाग रेल परियोजना का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है, जो चारधाम यात्रा से जुड़े क्षेत्रों की कनेक्टिविटी को मजबूत करेगी। इसके पूरा होने से पर्यटन और व्यापार को भी बड़ा प्रोत्साहन मिलेगा और उत्तराखंड के विकास में तेजी आएगी।

India has set a new milestone in railway infrastructure with the completion of the country’s longest rail tunnel, measuring 14.57 km, between Devprayag and Janasu in Uttarakhand. Remarkably, the project has been completed 15 months ahead of schedule, making it one of the finest examples of modern engineering in the country.
According to railway officials, the construction posed major geographical challenges, but with the use of advanced technology and continuous efforts of engineers and workers, the tunnel was successfully completed ahead of time. This tunnel is part of the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail project, which aims to significantly improve connectivity to the Char Dham pilgrimage routes.
Once operational, this tunnel will not only reduce travel time but also enhance safety, promote tourism, and boost trade in the region. This achievement marks a major step in India’s railway modernization and infrastructure development.
