टौणी देवी तहसील भवन के पास बने एनएच-03 के नए बाईपास पर मंगलवार सुबह भारी चट्टानें गिरने से मार्ग पूरी तरह से बंद हो गया। सुबह करीब 6 बजे तेज धमाके के साथ टनों के हिसाब से चट्टानें सड़क पर आ गिरीं। सौभाग्यवश, हादसे के वक्त वहां से कोई वाहन नहीं गुजर रहा था, जिससे बड़ा नुकसान टल गया।
घटना के बाद सारा ट्रैफिक पुराने उहल चौक से डायवर्ट किया गया, जिसकी स्थिति पहले से ही बेहद खराब है। अब इस जर्जर मार्ग पर रोजाना जाम की स्थिति बन रही है।
जानकारी के अनुसार, जिस स्थान पर चट्टानें गिरी हैं, वहां निजी रास्ते के लिए पहाड़ी कटान किया जा रहा था। निर्माण कंपनी का आरोप है कि यह कार्य आरओडब्ल्यू क्षेत्र में अवैज्ञानिक ढंग से किया गया, जिसे न रोका गया और न ही भू-स्वामी को नोटिस दिया गया।
हाईवे इंजीनियर अंकित सिंह ने बताया कि मलबा हटाने का कार्य शुरू हो गया है और शाम तक मार्ग बहाल होने की संभावना है।

A major rockfall near the Tauni Devi Tehsil Office has blocked the newly constructed NH-03 bypass, causing severe disruption in traffic. Around 6 AM on Tuesday, massive boulders fell onto the road with a loud bang, fortunately missing any passing vehicles.
Following the incident, all vehicular movement has been diverted through the old Uhal Chowk, which is already in poor condition. This diversion has led to heavy congestion and traffic jams.
According to officials, the rockfall occurred at a location where a private access road was being carved. The construction firm claims that unscientific excavation was carried out within the Right of Way (ROW) area without any intervention or notice from authorities.
Highway engineer Ankit Singh confirmed that debris removal work is underway and the bypass is expected to be cleared by evening. Meanwhile, the condition of the old Uhal Chowk road continues to pose challenges for commuters.
