धर्मशाला – केन्द्रीय रेलवे मंत्री अश्वनी वैष्णव ने राज्यसभा में जानकारी दी कि 200 किलोमीटर लंबी पठानकोट–जोगिंद्रनगर नैरो गेज रेलवे लाइन को ब्रॉड गेज में परिवर्तित करने के लिए सर्वे कार्य जारी है और इसकी विस्तृत परियोजना रिपोर्ट (डीपीआर) तैयार की जा रही है। डीपीआर पूर्ण होने के बाद राज्य सरकार से चर्चा की जाएगी तथा नीति आयोग और वित्त मंत्रालय से स्वीकृति प्राप्त की जाएगी।
सांसद इंदु बाला गोस्वामी के प्रश्न पर रेलवे मंत्री ने बताया कि रेलवे परियोजनाओं की स्वीकृति आर्थिक व्यवहार्यता, यातायात अनुमान, राज्य सरकार की सिफारिश, सांसदों की मांग और पर्यटन व धार्मिक स्थलों को जोड़ने जैसी सामाजिक-आर्थिक जरूरतों के आधार पर होती है।
इस परियोजना के पूरा होने से हिमाचल प्रदेश और पंजाब के बीच रेल संपर्क में उल्लेखनीय सुधार होगा, जिससे क्षेत्रीय पर्यटन और आर्थिक गतिविधियों को नई गति मिलेगी।
Dharamshala – Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha that a survey is underway to convert the 200 km Pathankot–Jogindernagar narrow gauge railway line into a broad gauge track, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared. Once the DPR is complete, discussions will be held with the state government, followed by necessary approvals from the NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Finance.
Responding to MP Indu Bala Goswami’s query, the minister stated that railway projects are approved based on economic viability, traffic projections, state recommendations, MPs’ requests, and socio-economic needs, such as connecting religious and tourist destinations.
This project is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, boosting tourism and regional economic activities.
