किन्नौर जिला के पंगी और रारंग सीमा पर वीरवार देर रात बादल फटने से काशंग नैहर पूरी तरह ध्वस्त हो गया। इस आपदा के चलते थोपन, स्वादेन, रारंग, खादरा और आकपा सहित पांच गांवों की सिंचाई व्यवस्था ठप हो गई है। किसानों और बागवानों की जीवन रेखा कही जाने वाली यह नैहर अब टूटने से कृषि कार्य प्रभावित हो गए हैं।
कृषि विकास संघ रारंग की एक टीम ने शुक्रवार को घटना स्थल का निरीक्षण कर स्थिति का जायजा लिया। इसके उपरांत संघ के अध्यक्ष नवरतन नेगी और महासचिव रिंगचेन बिष्ट ने राजस्व एवं बागवानी मंत्री जगत सिंह नेगी को नुकसान की जानकारी दी। मंत्री ने आश्वासन दिया कि नुकसान का आकलन कर भरपाई की जाएगी और सिंचाई नैहर को जल्द पुनर्स्थापित करने की कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
किसानों ने प्रदेश सरकार से आग्रह किया है कि काशंग-जंगी सिंचाई नैहर के पहले चरण (26 किलोमीटर) को पुनर्निर्मित किया जाए ताकि फसलों और बागवानी को बचाया जा सके।
A massive cloudburst struck Kashang on the Panggi-Rarang border in Kinnaur on Thursday night, causing heavy destruction. The Kashang irrigation canal, considered the lifeline for farmers of Thopan, Swaden, Rarang, Khadra, and Akpa villages, was completely damaged, halting irrigation facilities for five villages.
A team from the Rarang Agriculture Development Association inspected the site on Friday and informed Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi about the losses. The Minister assured that proper damage assessment and restoration of the canal would be carried out soon.
Association leaders Navratan Negi and Ringchen Bisht have urged the state government to immediately restore the Kashang canal to secure irrigation for crops and apple orchards. The Kashang-Jangi irrigation canal’s first phase covers 26 kilometers and plays a crucial role in sustaining farming in the region.
