शिमला जिले की पीरन पंचायत में वर्ष 1962 से कार्यरत छह दशक पुरानी आयुर्वेदिक डिस्पेंसरी आज स्टाफ के अभाव में बंद होने की कगार पर पहुंच गई है। वर्तमान में यह डिस्पेंसरी मात्र एक चतुर्थ श्रेणी कर्मचारी के सहारे चल रही है। लगभग चार महीने पूर्व यहां तैनात आयुर्वेदिक चिकित्सक का स्थानांतरण बिलासपुर कर दिया गया, जबकि फार्मासिस्ट का पद तीन वर्षों से रिक्त है। प्रशिक्षित दाई का पद तो पिछले लगभग 30 वर्षों से भरा ही नहीं गया।
स्थानीय लोगों, जिनमें पूर्व प्रधान दयाराम वर्मा, अतर सिंह ठाकुर, दौलत राम मेहता, और कमलेश ठाकुर प्रमुख हैं, ने सरकार से आग्रह किया है कि चिकित्सक और फार्मासिस्ट की नियुक्ति जल्द की जाए। उनका कहना है कि अगर डिस्पेंसरी बंद की गई तो पीरन पंचायत सहित सीमावर्ती पंचायतों को बड़ी असुविधा का सामना करना पड़ेगा और आंदोलन की चेतावनी भी दी गई है।
डिस्पेंसरी में औसतन हर महीने लगभग 250 रोगियों की ओपीडी होती है। जिला आयुर्वेद अधिकारी डॉ. अश्विन शर्मा ने बताया कि चिकित्सक की नियुक्ति के लिए मामला उच्चाधिकारियों तक पहुंचाया गया है और फिलहाल डिस्पेंसरी को बंद करने का कोई प्रस्ताव सरकार के पास नहीं है।

The Ayurvedic dispensary located in Pirna Panchayat of Shimla district, established in 1962, is currently on the brink of closure due to severe staff shortages. At present, the facility is being run solely by a Class-IV employee. Nearly four months ago, the appointed Ayurvedic doctor was transferred to Bilaspur, and the pharmacist position has remained vacant for the past three years. The position for a trained midwife has been lying unfilled for almost three decades.
In the 1970s, this dispensary functioned with at least four employees including a doctor. Concerned residents, including former Panchayat heads Daya Ram Verma and Kamlesh Thakur, have urged the government to fill the vacant positions urgently, warning of protests if the dispensary is shut down.
Approximately 250 patients visit the OPD monthly. District Ayurvedic Officer Dr. Ashwin Sharma has assured that the matter has been escalated to higher authorities, and currently, there are no plans to close the dispensary.
