हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार ने जिला चंबा के पांगी उप-मंडल को राज्य का पहला प्राकृतिक खेती उप-मंडल घोषित कर एक ऐतिहासिक कदम उठाया है। इस घोषणा के बाद पूरे क्षेत्र में उत्साह का माहौल है। मुख्यमंत्री ठाकुर सुखविंद्र सिंह सुक्खू की घोषणा के अनुरूप अधिसूचना जारी की गई है।
इस निर्णय से क्षेत्र के किसानों को पारंपरिक कृषि पद्धतियों को अपनाने और रसायन मुक्त खेती के ज़रिए सतत आजीविका के अवसर प्राप्त होंगे। वर्तमान में घाटी में 2,244 किसान परिवार जैविक खेती कर रहे हैं और 2,920 हेक्टेयर कृषि भूमि को शत-प्रतिशत प्राकृतिक खेती में बदलने की योजना है।
सरकार चरणबद्ध तरीके से प्रशिक्षण, बीआरसी सेंटर की स्थापना, जैविक सामग्री की आपूर्ति और अधोसंरचना विकास जैसे कदम उठा रही है। इससे पलायन रुकेगा, युवाओं को रोजगार मिलेगा और जनजातीय क्षेत्रों की अर्थव्यवस्था मजबूत होगी। स्थानीय नेता, महिलाएं और स्वयं सहायता समूह इसे क्षेत्र के विकास के लिए मील का पत्थर मान रहे हैं।

In a landmark move, the Himachal Pradesh government has officially notified Pangi sub-division in Chamba district as the state’s first Natural Farming Sub-Division. This decision has created widespread enthusiasm among the local population.
The initiative aims to promote traditional and chemical-free farming practices to ensure sustainable livelihoods. Currently, over 2,244 farmer families in the valley are practicing natural farming, with a government plan to convert 2,920 hectares of arable land into 100% organic.
The state government has planned a multi-phase implementation strategy, including farmer training, establishment of Bio-input Resource Centres (BRCs), and improved market access through Large Area Certification (LAC) under PGS-India standards. Additional infrastructure like polyhouses and cold storages is also being proposed.
Local farmers, women, and self-help groups have welcomed the move, seeing it as a way to revive traditional agriculture, empower the youth, and stop migration from the area. This initiative is expected to give Pangi valley’s produce a unique identity and better market value.
