मंडी, 13 सितम्बर। नौकरी की होड़ छोड़कर प्राकृतिक खेती अपनाने वाले मंडी जिले के तरौर गांव के जगदीश चंद आज आत्मनिर्भरता की मिसाल बन चुके हैं। बीएससी फिजिक्स की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद जहां उनके साथी शहरों की ओर नौकरी की तलाश में गए, वहीं उन्होंने अपनी 20 बीघा भूमि पर रसायन मुक्त खेती शुरू करने का फैसला लिया।
शुरुआत में चुनौतियों का सामना करने के बावजूद उन्होंने हिम्मत नहीं हारी और नकदी फसलें जैसे मटर, लहसुन और विभिन्न सब्जियों के साथ पारंपरिक फसलें उगाकर सफलता पाई। उनकी मेहनत का नतीजा यह रहा कि बेहतर गुणवत्ता और स्वाद वाली उपज को बाजार में अच्छे दाम मिले।
जगदीश को कृषि विभाग ने सामुदायिक स्रोत व्यक्ति (CRP) बनाया और राष्ट्रीय प्राकृतिक खेती मिशन से उन्हें आर्थिक सहायता भी मिली। आज वे न केवल अपनी खेती से अच्छी आमदनी कमा रहे हैं, बल्कि अन्य किसानों को जैविक आदान भी उपलब्ध करवा रहे हैं।
उनकी प्रेरणा से सैकड़ों किसान प्राकृतिक खेती अपना रहे हैं। जगदीश की यह पहल युवा किसानों के लिए एक नई दिशा है।
Mandi, September 13. Choosing self-reliance over the race for jobs, Jagdish Chand from Tarour village in Mandi district has emerged as an inspiring face of natural farming. After completing his B.Sc. in Physics, while his friends moved to cities in search of jobs, Jagdish decided to return to his roots and turn his 20 bighas of land into a model of chemical-free farming.
Despite initial challenges, he cultivated both cash crops like peas, garlic, and vegetables along with traditional crops, ensuring better quality and taste compared to chemically grown produce. This helped him fetch good market prices.
Recognizing his efforts, the Agriculture Department appointed him as a Community Resource Person (CRP), and under the National Natural Farming Mission, he received financial support to set up a bio-input resource center. Today, Jagdish not only earns well from farming but also provides organic inputs to other farmers at affordable rates.
Inspired by his journey, hundreds of farmers across Gohar block have started adopting natural farming. Jagdish’s story reflects a sustainable path of self-reliance for India’s young farmers.
