धर्मशाला, 13 अगस्त 2025 – दिल्ली की सड़कों से बेसहारा कुत्तों को हटाने के हालिया आदेश ने हिमाचल के कांगड़ा में भी बहस छेड़ दी है। क्रांति संस्था के अध्यक्ष धीरज महाजन ने आज उपायुक्त कांगड़ा हेमराज बैरवा को राष्ट्रपति के नाम ज्ञापन सौंपते हुए इस आदेश को “अमानवीय और अव्यावहारिक” बताया।
महाजन ने कहा कि दिल्ली में करीब तीन लाख कुत्तों के भोजन और रख-रखाव की व्यवस्था दिल्ली सरकार के लिए संभव नहीं है। उन्होंने सुझाव दिया कि इसके बजाय सुप्रीम कोर्ट को वैक्सीनेशन और नसबंदी को अनिवार्य करने का निर्देश देना चाहिए था।
उन्होंने चेताया कि यदि इन कुत्तों को सरकारी आश्रयों में रखा गया तो उनकी स्थिति गौशालाओं और वृद्ध-आश्रमों जैसी बदहाल हो सकती है। महाजन ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट से मानवीय समाधान अपनाने की मांग की।
इस मुद्दे पर पूर्व सांसद मेनका गांधी ने भी आदेश का विरोध किया है। कांगड़ा में यह मामला अब स्थानीय चर्चा का केंद्र बन गया है, जिससे पशु अधिकार और सार्वजनिक सुरक्षा के बीच संतुलन पर सवाल खड़े हो रहे हैं।
Dharamshala, August 13, 2025 – The recent order to remove stray dogs from Delhi streets has sparked debate in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Dheeraj Mahajan, President of Kranti Sanstha, submitted a memorandum to Kangra DC Hemraj Bairwa addressed to the President, calling the order “inhumane and impractical.”
Mahajan stated that feeding and sheltering Delhi’s nearly three lakh stray dogs is unrealistic for the government. Instead, he suggested that the Supreme Court should have mandated vaccination and sterilization.
He warned that placing these dogs in government shelters might result in conditions similar to neglected cowsheds and old-age homes. Mahajan urged the court to adopt humane solutions.
Former MP and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi has also opposed the order. The issue has now become a hot topic in Kangra, raising serious questions about balancing animal rights with public safety.
